When you think about Pizzerias, you normally don't think about the structure’s commercial roofing system, but roofing was very important for the Pizzeria Uno Chicago Bar & Grill in Smithfield. This newly constructed restaurant had the same issues that all restaurant buildings have – animal fats emitted from the rooftop kitchen vents.

Weisman Roofing examined the existing commercial roofing products available. Many would not be suitable for this busy restaurant. Weisman's expertise led them to choose the GAF Materials Corporation single-ply TPO membrane commercial roofing system.

TPO, or thermoplastic olefin, is a modern superior commercial roofing material, and typically contains colorant, flame retardants and special UV radiation absorbers, all of which enable the material to safely withstand installation on the roof of a restaurant. Flame resistance and fat (chemical) resistance were key prerequisites for this restaurant commercial roofing project.

Weisman fully-adhered the TPO membrane to the roof, including covering the out-of-sight areas of the parapet walls on the roof's perimeter. This ensured that both the roof structure and the walls were protected from the damaging effects of animal fat, water and sunlight.

According to the National Roofing Contractors Association, TPO roofing membrane provides many benefits, such as low installation cost, heat reflection and great water resistance, because of the heat welded seams. as Weisman Roofing.
