Meshanticut Vista
Cranston, Rhode Island
The existing roofing system on this high-rise, fully-occupied public housing elderly residence was removed and replaced by Weisman with a tar and gravel commercial roofing system, complete with 20-year warranty.
Weisman’s removal of the existing roofing system from the residence had to be completed without any disruption to the elderly residents. The building is high rise – usually a challenge - but fortunately the waste material could be removed from exterior chutes, without causing any mess or disruption inside.
After removal of the existing roofing system, Weisman installed multiple tapered insulation roof sections with crickets to assure proper drainage and a long life for the new commercial roofing system.
Tar and gravel is an appropriate, cost-effective choice for low-slope, or flat, roofing.
Weisman’s application of the new tar and gravel commercial roofing system involved putting down two layers of tar paper then coating each with asphalt then covering that assembly with a layer of gravel is applied to protect the underlying levels from UV damage and to hold down the roofing system during high wind conditions. Meshanticut Vista is a long narrow building. Hence the demolition, insulation and new tar and gravel were done section by section.
